JPN W: Red Rockets take over lead in standings from unbeaten Toray

The NEC Red Rockets settled at the top of the 2020/21 Japanese Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The NEC Red Rockets took over the lead over the 2020/21 V.League Division1 regular season for women from the Toray Arrows. With a third successive win (3-1 vs Saitama Ageo Medics), to which it was led in scoring by Haruyo Shimamura (17 points), the Kawasaki based team settled at the top of the charts (6-1 and 18 points).

As for the Arrows, they lost first place due to dropping a point in the match against Hitachi Rivale (3-2). The Azerbaijani Jana Kulan scored 26 points on the winning side, helping the Ōtsu club keep invincibility (6-0).

The Toyota Auto Body Queenseis (Erika Araki 19 points, including 5 blocks) managed to end an embarrassing losing streak that consisted of six games as they beat the PFU Bluecats in straight sets.

The JT Marvelous (American Andrea Drews 26 points, Mako Kobata 82.4 % reception) prolonged the series of wins to four after defeating Victorina Himeji by a 3-1.

The Denso Airybees (American Kathryn Plummer 28 points, Kotoe Inoue 89.3 % reception) broke the four-game victorious streak of the Okayama Seagulls.
