The top 17 teams from around the country qualified and participated in the VCL. Qualifications began in regions, where the winner and runner up teams of each regional championship qualified for VCL. The teams were then divided into four groups, in which the two teams with the most points in each group moved to the second round, and then four teams advanced to the semifinal.
In the final match, Afghanistan National Security Directorate Volleyball team lost to Afghanistan Red Crescent Volleyball team, 3-1. Kabul Municipality Club placed third and AFTAJ Volleyball club placed fourth.
Millions of viewers tuned into the final match, which was broadcast live on national TV, with coverage in all 34 provinces and internationally.
In the closing ceremony, winning teams received medals, trophies and cash price from Parliament member Mr. Kamawal, Secretary General NOC Mr. Hassani, Deputy Mayor of Kabul, and Dr. Popalzay AVF president, who thanked all the participants and committed developing volleyball in the country with more organized tournaments.
AVF plans to continue its competition calendar and systematic tournaments each year, which the teams, clubs and players are very happy with.
