The photo was taken on August 3 by Dominican photographer Ernesto Beltre at Ricardo Arias Gymnasium in Santo Domingo.
Beltre is the popular official photographer of NORCECA Confederation who has covered many international beach volleyball and volleyball tournaments around the region.
“I am very proud about it,” Beltre said when informed about the selection. “During my time working with NORCECA I have received the opportunity to work in a lot of events and the chance that comes with it to improve the quality of my work.”
It is the second time that a photo taken by Beltre has been recognized by the fans around the world.
He also shot the picture of two beach volleyball players of St Kitts and Nevis diving in the sands in celebration during a tournament of the Continental Cup towards to the London Olympic Games.
That photo was utilized by the International Olympic Committee as part of the promotional campaign of equity and opportunities for everyone to participate.
