The three-time South Korean women’s club champions, IBK Industrial Bank Altos, changed the foreigner in the roster.
The player who gained a lot of popularity in Korea since the beginning of the 2021/22 Dodram V-League after it was learned that her grandmother is Korean, Rebecca Latham, is no longer a member of the Altos. Namely, clubs there expect the foreign players to be the leaders, and American opposite hitter failed to do that. She was only the third-ranked scorer of the Altos, with an attack success of 34.6%. Such a percentage is considered weak given that most imports recorded a minimum attack success rate of 40% this season. So, parting ways between the Hwaseong side and Latham was inevitable.
Instead of her, the club officials contracted the Puerto Rico National Team member Daly Santana, who spent the last season in Turkey’s Türk Hava Yolları and Pinkin de Corozal in her home country. The 26-year-old outside hitter, a two-time MVP of the Puerto Rican league and one-time MVP of the French league, was a free agent before coming to Korea.
