It’s not the only novelty. They are planning to reduce the teams that participating in the group stage. All of this was discussed during the meeting of the CEV’s officials in Luxembourg.
“We have a plan to introduce preliminary or qualifying round of the CEV Champions League as in other sports. We discussed about more many things. The decision will be made in March. It’s not sure if the current situation regarding the group stage will stay the same. We plan to decrease the number of teams. We want more strong matches. When we speak about CEV Cup and Challenge Cup, we want to keep them. We will decide later about the formats of these two competitions” says Stanislavov for rsport.ru.
