During the Preliminary Inquiry that took place this sunday morning at the Baja California High Performance Center, most of the coaches agreed in the goal of getting a ticket to the FIVB U18 World Championship that will be played in Thailand.
The continental championships gives three berths to that tournament for the next year. Six of the seven competing delegations attended to the Preliminary Inquiry.
Trinidad and Tobago’s flight was delayed so their Inquiry has been scheduled at the time of their arrival. The next ones are the coaches’ comments:
Xavier Perales (Costa Rica): We came here to gain experience. We have been joined for the last ten days and expect that the girls can get in touch with their first Norceca level competition.
Ariel Sainz (Dominican Republic): We have prepared for the last three years. This is a team with very young players but also with a great perspective in the long term. Our main goal is to get a ticket for the World Championship and have a good competition.
Julio Domínguez (Guatemala): We have arrived with great goodwill and commitment. We held a one year preparation after qualifying in second place in our region and we think this will be a great experience for our country.
Estanislao Vachino (México): The team is OK. We expected to play this tournament in the next months, but the girls are ready as so we are to be qualified to the World Championship.
Víctor Vázquez (Puerto Rico): Our expectation is to qualify to the world championship. We have a young team that has worked hard and our main goal is to be in the first three places .
Reed Sunahara (United States): We are getting better. We have a team, that has been training in a while. Every day we are getting better and ready to compete for tomorrow.
