The Polish Volleyball League (Polska Liga Siatkówki SA) decided that Grupa Azoty Chemik Police and Grot Budowlani Łódź will play for the national Super Cup on Wednesday, December 16, in Lublin.
Chemik earned the right to play for the trophy as the last Polish champion and Cup winner, while Budowlani replaced the Polish Cup silver medalists Developres. Namely, due to the fact that a large part of their team is infected with coronavirus, Developres will still be in quarantine at the time when the Super Cup will take place.
Budowlani were chosen to fight for the trophy based on a decision of the Polish Volleyball League to rename the Polish Super Cup (Superpuchar Polski im. Andrzeja Niemczyka) into 2015-2020 Polish Volleyball Super Cup (Superpuchar Polskiej Ligi Siatkówki 2015-2020) for this year only. And given that, along with Chemik, Budowlani were the only winners of the event in the previous five years, they got an opportunity to play.
