Although the plan was to hire a foreign outside hitter before the start of the new season, Lotos Trefl Gdansk decided to give up on this idea. The reason is that the club does not have the money to pay some world-class player, while head coach Andrea Anastasi does not want to hire a foreign player who cannot make difference on the court.

That is why Gdansk decided to give a chance to talented Szymon Jakubiszak, who has recently won the gold medal with Poland at the U20 Men’s European Championship 2016.

Therefore, the 4 outside hitters who will play for Gdansk in the 2016/17 season are – Mateusz Mika, Bartosz Pietruczuk, Miłosz Hebda and Szymon Jakubiszak.
