TUR W: Kuzeyboru’s pieces finally coming together – Rahimova, Bia & Co. upset Fenerbahçe to take 5th win in row

After a terrible start to the 2022-23 season in the Turkish Women’s Volleyball Championship, heavily strengthened Kuzeyboru is rising up.

After they lost their first three matches in the 2022–23 Misli.com Sultanlar Ligi, many started to doubt that pieces of a heavily strengthened Kuzeyboru would ever come together. But a poor start to the season for the Aksaray-based side is a thing of the past, as they noted five successive wins after that. The last success in the series of Rahimova, Bia & Co. came at home against the vice-champions, Fenerbahçe Opet, in Round 8 (the only match of Round 8’s schedule this Saturday) in front of the packed stands (3,000 spectators). Kuzeyboru inflicted the third defeat on the ’Yellow Angels’, currently fourth in the standings in the league, and came to a point (15) from them (16): 3-2 (27-29, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 19-17).

Belarusian Hanna Klimets top-scored for Kuzeyboru with 24 points, including 4 aces. The famous Brazilian middle blocker, Ana Beatriz Corrêa ’Bia’, made 4 stuffs. Russian Arina Fedorovtseva was absolutely best for Fenerbahçe with 33 points, while Aslı Kalaç had 6 blocks.
