Volley BERGAMO and Scavolini PESARO extended their eternal rivalry tonight in the 1/8 finals of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League with the group captained by Francesca Piccinini eventually scoring an away win (25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 27-25) to challenge the compatriots of MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE in the next stage of the competition.

Volley BERGAMO goes for another Italian derby in quarterfinals

The guests of Volley BERGAMO started with the right pace (25-14) leading the way all through the opening set with Scavolini being not able to storm back. Even though BERGAMO set the pace by both mandatory stops of the second set, the final rush turned into a neck-to-neck race with the hosts of Scavolini eventually coming out on top (26-24).

Volley BERGAMO got back on track in set 3 (25-17) while the fourth and last set turned into a very close race, with Piccinini & Co. being able to score the deciding points. Piccinini was awarded as MVP of the game and scored a total of 23 points, including 3 aces and 1 block.
