#RoadToTokyo W: Kazakhstan and Korea enter semifinals

The 2nd day of the 2020 Asian Women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifier in Nakhon Ratchasima (Thailand) has promoted 2 teams to the semifinals, Kazakhstan and South Korea.


Kazakhstan overcame Indonesia in straight sets in Pool B, but with each one being very competitive: 25-22, 25-23, 25-18. Led by Sana Anarkulova (16 points) and Kristina Anikonova (4 kill blocks), Kazakhstan remained perfect 2-0 (6 points) and secured a place in the semifinals. The prospect opposite hitter Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi put down 21 points for the losing side. Kazakhstan will fight South Korea (also advanced to semis after 3-0 win vs. Iran) in the last round for the top spot in the pool.

As for Pool A, Chinese Taipei recorded a victory over Australia and tied with the leaders Thailand at 1-0 and 3 points. Chang Li-Wen top-scored for the winners with 14 points. In case the “Volleyroos“ beat the hosts in the last round, all 3 teams in the pool might finish with 1-1 record, 3 points and 3-3 in sets.

Australia – Chinese Taipei 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 14-25)


Indonesia – Kazakhstan 0-3 (22-25, 23-25, 18-25)

South Korea – Iran 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-19)
