In a pivotal clash at the Paris Olympic beach volleyball tournament, Spain’s Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira clinched their spot in the eighthfinals with a decisive 2-0 win over the USA’s Miles Evans and Chase Budinger. Herrera, competing in his sixth Olympics, announced this will be his final season, while Gavira will pursue a new project.

The 18th-seeded Spaniards dominated, finishing second in Pool F behind the Dutch team. The Americans, despite the loss, will enter the “lucky-loser” playoffs.

Men’s Tournament Standings

In the women’s tournament, Czech pair Barbora Hermannova and Marie-Sara Stochlova advanced to the sixteenthfinals after a 2-1 victory over France’s Clemence Vieira and Aline Chamereau. The Czechs qualified due to a withdrawal from the Dutch team.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Akiko Hasegawa and Miki Ishii secured their place in the next round with a commanding 2-0 win over Lithuania’s Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte, ending the latter’s Olympic journey.
