Why did you decide to resume your playing career in Zarechie?
”I did not want to go far from home and family. Here I have a mom who helps me with my son when I’m at training, and out of town. Therefore, the family council decided to stay in Odintsovo (smiles).”
Was decision also because of coach Pankov?
”I know Vadim since I was 13, nearly 17 years. For me, it was a very important factor also. Of course, that coach plays an important role.”
What has changed in the Russian Superleague during your absence?
”There are some new clubs,for example, a team of Tyumen. I have never been in this city, and after the New Year, the away game with the Tyumen is waiting for us. This season, league added another club Hara Moriun from Ulan-Ude. In general, almost nothing has changed except for some teams.”
You were a member of a team who became the champion of Russia, won the national cup and played in the “Final Four” of the Champions League. There is no nostalgia for those times?
”No Nostalgia. What happened, happened. We still try to win every match and want to repeat those successes. Why not? Of course, it is difficult to deal with the favorites for the final prizes, but we will try to spoil their whishes.”
In the upcoming break, is there going to be a serious preparation?
”I think they’ll give us a few days off for New Year’s holidays, then continue training. We are waiting for the away match against Tyumen. For us, it is very fundamental, it is our opponent for a place in the playoffs, and we need to win.”
