ARG M: Argentina youth’s closed the friendly series with Italy with a clear victory 3:0

The Argentine Youth’s Boys Team won the fourth and last match v the Italian team by a fought 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-20) match winning the friendly series 3-1. The best scorers were Bruno Lima and Nicolas Lazo, each with 16 points. The friendly tour started last Tuesday in the city of Buenos Aires and planned with six matches, two had to be suspended (one 1-1) and the other all together due to bad weather conditions in the city of Azul last Thursday and Friday.

Argentina played a good game against Italy

This tour helped the light blue — white team on their preparation for the South American Championship that qualifies for the 2013 World Championship.

The team coached by Julian Alvarez showed great concentration from the very start and reached the 1st. TTO of the first set leading 8-6. Then with good blocking and spikes it reached a four point difference 11-8 when it started making mistakes while the European team found its momentum. Milan was as on the other matches the best visiting team player that put the score 15-16 by the second TTO. With the light blue — white jersey boys finding their path Lazo and Lima got once more the lead 20-17 but the Italian team kept fighting from behind to equal 23-23. Their own mistake put Argentina with the first partial victory.

The second set was a different history with the host team getting a quick lead 6-1 and without mistakes and good output of the whole team but mainly with the shine of Lima and Lazo got to the second TTO 16-9. With Gallego blocking it became 18-10 to end with a clear 25-18 score.

In the third set, once more the host team found itself leading without any questions with outstanding spiking 8-4. With ups and downs Italy got nearer to 13-11 with Mazzone as the best player but Alvarez boys reached the second TTO 16-10 and with a blocking on the hands of Melgarejo closed the set and the match.

The Italian team will leave Argentina this Monday while the host team will keep working with the coaching team soon deciding the 12 names for the Continental competition.
