Gentofte Volley will contest in their seventh consecutive VolleyLigaen playoff finals. They won only one national title out of previous six consecutive gold medal series in which they played.
No.1 Gentofte won Game 4 of the playoff semifinals, 3-1 (17-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23) against the defending champions and also No.5 Boldklubben Marienlyst to win the series by a 3-1. Mads Kyed Jensen topped Gentofte with 16 points. Rasmus Mikelsons added 5 kill blocks, while Tobias Hougs Kjær made 77% reception (13 digs, 38% perfect). Gentofte could not count on their best scorer, also best scorer of the tournament, Peter Trolle Bonnesen. Sigurd Neltoft Varming scored 24 points for Marienlyst, while Simon Bitsch recorded 74% reception (19 digs, 26% perfect).
No.3 Middelfart VK stunned No.2 Hvidovre VK by prevailing in the semifinal series with a 3-1. Middelfart swept the rivals in Game 4 (3-0), mostly thanks to 14 points from Nikolaj Hjorth. Jeppe Back Nielsen contributed with 4 kill blocks. Kasper Rode Nielsen made 74% reception (19 digs, 2 errors, 26% perfect).
