The second-seed Hylte/Halmstad passed the road from the underdogs to the champions of the Elitserien 2017/18 as they scored a third straight win against No.1 Linköpings VC in the playoff finals. Thus, Hylte/Halmstad closed the gold medal series with a 3-0 despite losing all three games to Linköpings VC prior to the finals. Not only this. By prevailing in Game 1, Hylte/Halmstad ended a 30-game winning streak of their rivals.

The American Nicholas Goodell highlighted Game 3, which ended in a tie-break, partially 25-23, 28-30, 25-18, 23-25, 16-14, for the winning side by delivering 24 points. Philip Pettersson served 4 aces and made 5 kill blocks, while Brazilian Carlos Santos also recorded 5 kill blocks and Anton Tegenrot 75% reception (16 digs, 38% perfect).

Martin Larsson scored 30 points for Linköpings. The Serbian Petar Turanjanin made 6 of 20 kill blocks of his team.

This was the eighth gold medal in the national championship of Hylte/Halmstad.
