ITA W: Serie A hit turns out to be one-way street – Scandicci take away Imoco’s invincibility

Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano collapsed at home in Round 10 of the 2022-23 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship: Savino Del Bene Scandicci interrupted the rival’s winning streak without a single defeat with a clean 3-0.

After 11 consecutive victories, 12 counting competitions other than the 2022-23 Serie A, Imoco suffered their first defeat of the season: on the road in PalaVerde in Treviso, Scandicci clearly prevailed over the hosts with a peremptory 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-19). The end of the hit match of the 10th round saw Scandicci having 7-3 and 23 points, which pushed them to fourth place in the standings. The reigning champions Imoco remained at the top with 11-1 and 32 points, but it has to be noted that the ’Panthers’ have two matches played more than the majority of the clubs in the league.

Today, Massimo Barbolini’s ladies were able to impose themselves thanks to the decisive performance of the Chinese Zhu Ting. Sixteen points from Canadian Alexa Gray couldn’t compensate for the usual display of Imoco’s main star Isabelle Haak. The Swede didn’t play at all in the match.
