The Dominicans dominated in the first set but failed serves at key moments, while the Mexican caused cracks in their reception which allowed the comeback.

The Mexican Alejandra Isiordia led with 27 points and Lisbeth Sainz and Patricia Valle contributed 16 and 11 respectively. Brayelin Martinez had 20 for the losers and Pamela Soriano had 15.

Soriano, the Dominican captain, was unhappy with the performance but only managed to say: “We could have done better.”

Isiordia, the captain of Mexico, said the Dominican is a tough team, “but we thought it was not impossible to defeat those who already have beaten us several times, so we play like we know and we are happy with this victory.”

The Brazilian Wagner Pacheco, coach of the Dominicans, congratulated the opponent players and coach. Mexico played like a champion team, we made many mistakes, but the tournament goes on.”

Meanwhile the Argentinean Estanislao Vachino, the coach of Mexico, praised the strength of the opponents. “We have shared a lot in training and in games, and really their faults allowed my team to be loose and get the victory.”
