CHN W: Jiangsu shove Shanghai on verge of elimination, Tianjin confident at start of playoffs

Jiangsu stunned Shanghai in Game 1 of the playoff semi-finals of the 2021/22 Chinese Women’s Volleyball Championship.

No.3 Jiangsu staged an upset in the first game of the semi-final series of the 2021/22 Women’s Super League playoffs. The vice-champions prevailed over No.2 Shanghai with a score of 3-1 (26-24, 25-20, 26-28, 25-18). The captain of the winning team Gong Xiangyu scored a game-high 22 points made 87% reception (15 digs, one error, 80% perfect). Yang Jia set up four blocks. American Jordan Larson (she was swapping places on the court with Korean Kim Yeon-Koung due to the Chinese federation’s rule that allows only one foreigner to be in the play at the same time per team) and Zhong Hui tallied 18 points apiece for Shanghai. The latter had 87% reception (31 digs, one error, 61% perfect).

In the other semi-final pairing, No.1 Tianjin swept No.4 Liaonong to take the lead of 1-0 in the series.
