SRB W: Turkish media moving Guidetti to helm of Serbia National Team, its federation says – no way

It seems that a little war is going on between Turkey and Serbia in regard to the head coaches of the women’s volleyball national teams of both nations. If nothing else, the two countries’ media are at war…

Under the command of Daniele Santarelli, Serbia Women’s National Team defended the world title. However, instead of celebrating the success achieved with the first-ever foreign head coach at its helm, the Serbian federation (OSS) is forced to fight with the Turks for the young Italian expert because of a lucrative offer its national federation (TVF) sent him.

This is all happening after Turkey Women’s National Team recently parted ways with Giovanni Guidetti, one of the biggest coaching names in women’s volleyball. And since the majority of top coaches signed contracts with federations until the end of the next Olympic cycle, that is, until 2024, there are no such high-quality solutions on the market. That’s why the TVF reached Santarelli. Of course, the OSS isn’t in favor of parting with the coach who brought them the title of world champion and who also has a contract for two more years. What doesn’t go in the favor of OSS is that Santarelli probably couldn’t get the money offered by TVF anywhere else.

MozzartSport claims that the Turks are pushing with all their power, so they have now started the gossip that the OSS has already started the search for Santarelli’s successor and that the choice fell on Guidetti. However, according to this source, that story isn’t exactly true because the OSS doesn’t want to change the coach and won’t set off any negotiations until they sit down with Santarelli. And even if the younger Italian expert decides to leave, the question is how realistic Guidetti’s arrival in a Belgrade-based body would be because there are certainly much richer federations than Serbian that are interested in his services, even though more experienced Italian coach denies the possibility of taking over Italy Women and Dutch Women.

Anyway, everything should be clearer in the next few days after the talks between the OSS officials and Santarelli.
