A New Kind of Volleyball Camp

CollEdge Recruiting Volleyball Camp is not like the camps most of us are used to. It isn’t run by a single college program, or set up and advertised by Nike.

The mission of CollEdge’s camp is to bring together coaches from a variety of Division III women’s programs and high school athletes interested in playing in college. Co-founders Brett Allen and Heidi Howard Allen saw from their experience as coaches at Bates College that DIII recruiting was expensive and time consuming for players who had to travel to each individual college or summer camp. In the environment they have created, players are now able to network with multiple coaches over the camp’s three-day span.

CollEdge is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors and focuses on team competition. Most of each day is spent actually playing volleyball, so the coaches can really see what the girls are like in game situations.

Coaches already planning to attend this year’s camp (scheduled for July 9-11 at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Conn.) hail from Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Hamilton, New Paltz, Trinity, and Western New England.
