Uncertainty in lasted for more than a half of Set 1. Tunisia had a slight advantage on the first TTO, but it played some fantastic volleyball before the second (15-11). Whenever Venezuelan players showed signs of awakening, Garci was there to calm them down (19-15). This match also lacked points from defensive moves just like in Australia – Egypt clash. First set ended 25-19.
Venezuela had to save its proud after a slack play in starting set and thus, South Americans established dominance in Set 2 from opening point. Soon it was 7-2. Firstly, they neutralized Garci with blocking and great team defense and scored almost every counter attack. Tunisia approached to 14-12, but Rivas (in attack) and Montoya (in attack and blocking) kept stability in Venezuelan team 22-16 and finally, 25-18.
In the third set, both sides struggled to crack the shell of one another and the most that Tunisia could manage to gain was a two or three-point gap (14-11, 18-16), but secured the third set 25-22.
Tunisia had an early solid lead in the fourth set (3-0, 10-7), but Piñerua and Rivas went ahead not letting the rivals to start playing comfortable (14-13, 20-19) and finally to overturn Tunisians in the finish 28-26.
After South Americans gained 8-5 in the tie-break, Tunisia used its lasts efforts to tie 12-12, but two points in a row from Venezuela paved the way to victory 15-13.
