This action – introduced in September 2012 – has already reached a total of 128 schools where hundreds of pupils and young children have signed up to join Volleyball classes. The project shall continue this year via the support provided by the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.
The school Volleyball centers already drew the attention of the media as the Polish Volleyball Federation and the Ministry of Sports had received the prestigious “Best Business Partner” award by the economic and financial magazine “Home & Market”.
To follow up on this, a second distinction came as the weekly magazine “Wprost” chose this innovative action for the best CSR project of the past year. Though only a few months have passed since the action was established, quite many experts have agreed upon the fact that the system of the school Volleyball centers – so far operational in 96 secondary schools and 32 high schools – is the very best way to promote and develop the sport across the country.
“This is a long-term action” project manager Waldemar Wspanialy says. “The Federation wants to continue with that in 2013 and also well beyond. We need to continue with the promotion of Volleyball across the youth and among children, to standardize training systems, scout the stars of the coming years and create equal opportunities for children from the different regions of our country” he continues. Wspanialy expects the project will be significantly expanded in the next months: “In the next school year we shall be able to organize a total of 310 Volleyball classes to involve 4,600 children, to move this figure up to 5,760 in 2014” he concludes.
