Louisa Lippmann is close to joining the Russian women’s volleyball Championship side Lokomotiv.

According to Melhor do Vôlei, the German star Lippmann is in the focus of the Russian vice-champions Lokomotiv.

The season in Russia is underway but transfers can still be completed. In search of an opposite hitter, Lokomotiv aimed the 2017 German Volleyball Player of the Year, Lippmann. The Kaliningrad team is struggling in the ongoing Superliga Parimatch (1-2), and one of the main reasons for this is the fact that the opposite hitter’s position isn’t filled with a player that can make the difference. This has been since Lokomotiv lost in the offseason both players that covered this position in 2019/20 – Tatyana Kosheleva and Cuban Ana Cleger (announced pregnancy).

It’s still unknown if Lippmann will first play in China – the federation of this Asian country revoked just a decision to ban male foreign players compete – or come directly to Lokomotiv. A 26-year-old Germany National Team member played the last season in Shanghai and then, when the league in China came to an end in January, moved to SSC Palmberg Schwerin in her home country.

She already headed to Shanghai, and will play for Shanghai for this year, though she needs to quarantine for 3 weeks before joining the team.
