What we have is the beautiful gift to volleyball fans all over the World. Two teams out of that group of favourites to qualify for the final six spots will clash early on the second day.

Italy is one of the greatest volleyball nations in the history of sport. They had golden generation during the 90’s who claimed three straight World Championships (1990, 1994, 1998) but failed to even reach the medal since then. For 16 years now Italy is without the medal and is putting so many hopes into this team. Lead by Travica and Zaytsev, Italy had great preparation period and is going into the Championship with high confidence.

On the other hand Iran is something completely different. They don’t have history, don’t have tradition but this generation is stacked with extraordinary talent. Julio Velsaco took them from the volleyball unknowns to some decent level, but with Slobodan Kovac they are flying all over the World, beating top teams and getting massive results. How far can they go with Mousavi, Marouf and Mirzanjapur? If they wake up with good confidence, it’s scary what Iran can do.
