Iran’s volleyball team head coach, Behrouz Ataei, has revealed his selection of 18 players for the 2023 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship. The tournament is set to take place in Urmia, Iran, from August 19 to 26.
Iran has been drawn alongside Iraq and Hong Kong in Pool A for the competition. Pool B features Japan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan, while Pool C hosts China, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan. Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, and Mongolia make up Pool D. Afghanistan, India, and Qatar occupy Pool E, and Bangladesh, Pakistan, and South Korea have been drawn into Pool F.
The Iranian squad will commence their campaign on August 20 with their opening match against Hong Kong.
The roster includes some prominent names like Mohammad Mousavi, Milad Ebadipour, and Amir Hossein Esfandiar. Other team members include Amin Esmaeilnezhad, Ali Hajipour, Mohammad Reza Hazratpour, Arman Salehi, Pourya Hossein Khanzadeh, Shahrooz Homayounfar Manesh, Mobin Nasiri, Amirreza Sarlak, Ali Ramezani, Bardia Saadat, Mehdi Jelveh, Mohammad Valizadeh, Mohammad Taher Vadi, Mohammadjavad Karimi and Saber Kazemi.
