Russia coach Yuri Marichev said:  “I thank the organisers because they have done their best for the team’s comfort. We should make our fans happy. The FIVB Volleyball World League also stopped in Kaliningrad and the hall was full. The fans will support us and the other teams. It is very important for us to participate in the Final Six, but it will be difficult. It is necessary to understand that this season we have many new players and I have to experiment during matches. Four more players can join the team before the World Championship. Ekaterina Gamova has started to train with the team, but she will not participate in the World Grand Prix. Negotiations are ongoing with Lyubov Sokolova. She has a great desire to play, but we do not whether she will be fit to play.”

Germany coach Giovanni Guidetti said: “I would also like to thank the Volleyball Federation of Russia for the excellent organisation. For us, the Final Six is not a target because it is not easy to reach. We keep working on our goal, trying to improve every week. For our team, it is not easy to stay at a very high level for long periods – we are using this time to try to be ready for the World Championship.

Turkey coach Massimo Barbolini said: “For us, this tournament is very interesting because all the teams involved have got a chance of going to the Finals in Japan. We are expecting three difficult matches. Turkey started this season well and we would like to guarantee a place in the Final Six.

Italy coach Marco Bonitta said: “This week, it is a very important group, because every team can reach the Finals in Japan. We will do our best to reach this goal. The main goal for all the teams is the World Championship in Italy, however, and especially for us. But the World Grand Prix Finals in Japan are very important because it is crucial to play high quality matches before the World Championship”.
