The invitation to participate in the 2021 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship seemed to have risen more problems to Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle than it will bring benefits.
The participation of ZAKSA, the current CEV Champions League winners, in the Club World Championship, which will be held in Betim, Brazil, on December 7-11, is in doubt. At least that is what Sebastian Świderski, the president of the Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) and still the member of the board of the Kędzierzyn-Koźle club, admitted.
“This date raises enormous difficulties. Participation in the tournament (Club World Championship) is practically impossible for us. On December 14, the European confederation (CEV) has planned the first match in the Champions League in Novosibirsk (Russia, against Lokomotiv). Not only are the two events only a few days apart, but there’s also a huge distance to be covered, the difference in time, and temperature,“ said Świderski.
ZAKSA have a short deadline to respond to the invitation, which, according to Świderski, is not enough time to find a date to postpone the mentioned match in the Champions League and two games in PlusLiga.
