Fourth place at the final tournament of the 2016 CEV Men’s Champions League… General impression was that Asseco Resovia deserved much more than that. Still, they suffered two defeats, despite a very good performance in both matches.

Russell Holmes of Asseco Resovia, stated for WorldofVolley that the final result was the only bad thing for his team at the Final Four in Krakow.

“Poland always puts up a great event, so the tournament was great. I am really happy that the fans were behind us all the way until the last point. They have created a great atmosphere and it was awesome to be part of all this. As far as the result goes, this was not what we expected. But, I think our guys fought really well in both matches. At the end, the game against Lube was very close, but they were serving better than us in the key moments and that was the big difference. Congratulations to them.”

Asseco Resovia still haven’t finished their season. They are now in front of the Polish Championship Finals in which they will face Zaksa.

“We have to put all of this behind us and kind of refocus on what is ahead. The Polish Championship is our next goal, so we have to get back to work and to keep pushing forward.”
