Skra appealed to the verdict against this decision so now the Court of Appeal of the Polish Volleyball Federation has to rule. How “Przegląd Sportowy” found out, it is even possible that the match of the 4th round of the Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship will be repeated!
In a letter sent to PlusLiga, Skra explained the penalty was disproportionate to the violation because the substitution that caused four foreigners to be on court at the same time had no impact to the outcome of the match. They looked for the irregularities in the conditions of a competition and called for a solution consistent with the spirit of sport. Skra also emphasized the position of Espadon, who do not want to win by forfeit and are ready to accept 3-0 defeat.
The possibilities of the Court of Appeal of the Polish Volleyball Federation are few and, although it sounds incredible, the court may order a repeated game. And this solution – as “Przegląd Sportowy” unofficially (officially was impossible because none of the teams does not want to comment on the case) finds out – is very likely. Questions about this solution are – who will pay for the repeated game and when it will be played if Skra advance in the CEV Champions League playoffs and there are no free terms?
“Przegląd Sportowy” asks one more question – why game commissioner and referees did not see rule violation in above mentioned match and why they were not suspended for oversight?
Violation of a foreign limit rule at Espadon – Skra game occured on October 20.
