„The ball is on the side of the FIVB and there is nothing I can do. I just have to wait for a solution. I think the FIVB is able to take appropriate steps so that I can play with the Polish National Team which Cuban federation cannot block. I do not know if this will be solved this season. The Cuban federation is doing everything so that me and other players who have ever played for Cuba can not play in other national teams. The FIVB, however, is able to make some decisions to solve this,“ León said for „Przegląd Sportowy“.
One of the best players in the world, who recently became CEV Champions League winner with Russian Zenit Kazan, does not hide he would like to take part at this year’s CEV European Championships, which will be held in Poland.
„Yes, that is my dream, but time goes by so fast. As long as I do not have the consent of the FIVB to play with the Polish National Team, we can only guess about this. I cannot speed it up,“ León concluded disappointedly.
Recall that Cuban Yoandy Leal was recently allowed to compete with Brazilian NT.
