The latest info that Dmitriy Muserskiy and Alexey Spiridonov will miss the 2017 FIVB World League is just one of many similar cases. Some of the world’s best players will not play in the 2017 FIVB World League, mostly because they need some rest.
Russia perhaps has the biggest problems. Apart from Muserskiy and Spiridonov, they will not be able to count on Maxim Mikhailov, Artem Volvich and Sergey Grankin. That’s almost the entire starting lineup!
The USA national team will also need to change something in their team as allegedly they will not have Matt Anderson, David Lee, Maxwell Holt and Aaron Russell for the 2017 FIVB World League.
The Italians will play without two of their best attackers – Ivan Zaytsev and Osmany Juantorena.
Facundo Conte won’t play for Argentina…
The list goes on and on… So the main question here is – Does volleyball have too many competitions during a year?

imagine this guys playing in domestic clubs, then champions league then just only 3 to 2 weeks they will go back to their national teams for world league then 6 nations for grand champions then after that clubs season again. i think they should start to reduce club season so some how they can take some rest this players are not younger anymore
actual season is short, only 8 months but additional competition creep in. World League qualification and final tournament, europian and world championship, world club championship. Then Olympic every four years. it’s basically back to back for best players which is not sustainable.
