Remat-Arago

Remat – Arago

The first set was dominated most of the time by Arago de SETE, with Remat trying to get back in the fight. But some wrong services of the home team and the powerful attacks of Baptiste Geiler combined with great blocks of Jose Trefle made it clear that Arago was a bit more confident and at the second technical time-out Remat was lagging 3 points behind before SETE finished it at 25-18.

During the second set, the players from Remat fought back and went up by 2 or 3 points through the passionate effort of Razvan Mihalcea, Mihai Gheorghita and Robinson Dvoranen, who attacked and blocked well. There were also some spectacular rallies that delighted the spectators, when both teams tried their best to get the upper hand, with Remat eventually going for the provisional 1:1.

The third set started forcefully for Arago that easily took the lead in the beginning (4:2, 7:4, and 8:5) but couldn’t stop Remat from getting back in the fight (10:11, 11:15). Despite having control of the operations after the second technical time-out (12:16), Remat ZALAU lost the set at the end after some errors.

Remat kept putting pressure on the French team in the fourth set, playing well in all the aspects of the game. They set the pace even by 10 points (6:16, 12:22) and won quite relaxed the set, with a margin of nine.

As about the last set, Arago de SETE was determined to win and Remat couldn’t stop them from getting the lead. Remat desperately tried to follow the French, but Arago pointed to the win, having a margin of five at the end of the set.

The Polish coach of Remat ZALAU, Mariusz Sordyl, stated after the match: “I am quite satisfied that we won this important point in the Champions League, but I am also disappointed that we lost two points because we could have won this match. This season Remat has had some really tough matches, so we tried to do our best and played with all our heart”.

Robinson Dvoranen, the captain of Remat, admitted that “our team made a lot of mistakes that should have been avoided and in that case, we could have won”.

Patrick Duflos, head coach of Arago de SETE, said: “I think that we weren’t constant enough all the time, probably because the team from Zalau played much better than during their away match with us. We still have problems, players that are injured and we don’t have solutions to replace them. But we are definitely happy for this win, because the sets were really difficult”.

The away match is always a bit difficult, because we don’t play in front of the home crowd and this is why we expected to have a tough match in Zalau. We will do our best to qualify for the next round of the CEV Volleyball Champions League” concluded Benjamin Toniutti, the captain of the French team.
