Chen Wan Ting scored a match-high 20 points for the victors, who are now just one win away from a berth in the premier annual women’s volleyball tournament. Lydia Oulmou top-scored for the hosts with 11 points.

The two teams will clash again on Saturday with Chinese Taipei needing just two sets to seal their place alongside the other 15 teams set to compete in the World Grand Prix

Algeria, meanwhile, have a mountain to climb as they need a straight sets win and a better points ratio if they are to reach the main tournament.
